Jamika "Meek StylinSocialite" Shearer is a Master Hair Stylist with 20 years experience as a licensed professional. Born in Dayton, Ohio, coming from a long line of stylists and barbers she knew early on that she too would embark on a career in the industry. Meek began at the young age of 13 developing a natural knack for styling hair. Some of her many accomplishments include sharing the Hair War stage with many well-known stylists such as Little Willie, Cool C and the late Mr Little. As well as platform styling at The Bronner Brothers Hair Show in Atlanta and teaching classes at the Premier Show in Orlando. Meek now resides in Charleston, SC, where in a short time Meek is already popular amongst many including radio and television personalities. She is currently a stylist at Upscale Barber and Beauty Salon in North Charleston, SC. Meek takes pride in her craft. Her mission is to share and inspire those that are her peers, but most of all the aspiring up and coming stylists. Meek has started her own line of "Stylist" Tee Shirts and is introducing her first Instructional DVD's. Ms Shearer is on the rise, definitely one to keep an eye on.
My advice to my "Styling Starz" just getting in the industry is; "build your brand, know your worth and always represent yourself in a way that reflects you consistently. I believe marketing and networking is everything. Social media can be your best friend when trying to reach potential new clients and fellow industry colleagues that may be able to provide other opportunities; if you are trying to go beyond the chair."
